Job 33:28

Monday, June 13, 2005

An unfortunate combination of events for which I would like to receive some sympathy:

1. It's like 97 degrees outside with a "heat index" of over 100.
2. I have been running a fever of 99 for the past few days.
This may not seem significant to you 98.6ers, but my normal temp is 97.8 that means to me 99= 100.4 (no wonder I was always so bad at math.)
3. My air conditioner has not been working for two days.
4. The North-South breeze does next to nothing for my East-West windows.
5. I had ice-cream for dinner to cool off and feel better, but instead it made me feel worse. (Damn Ben and Jerry!)
6. My little weiner dog is just sitting here looking at me and panting. (that's the sympathy call for Buzz)
7. In conclusion, we are hot. Sympathy please.

I just went through a similar situation a couple of weeks ago and it was miserable, so you and Buzz definitely have my sympathy and best wishes for you to get well and for the ac to get fixed soon. I hope you two will be able to enjoy Buzz's 1st Birthday.

In the meantime, I suggest taking a long bath with the water at around 75-80 degrees. If it's too cold, it just makes you feel sicker later. Then keep sponging off with a wet rag soaked in cold water. That, and a couple of Tylenol should help you feel better.

Drat,I should have gotten Buzz a SuperSoaker for his birthday. If only I'd known.

Take care,
fp

When you take a bath in the cool water, add some baking soda and salt or milk (or both) to the water... it feels really, really good. Also good for when you feel itchy, like from walking in tall grass (Yeah, I know, you don't do that so much... but your short little dog might...) or feeding yourself to mosquitos.
